For this Impressions Composing Jam I wanted to explore the quiet, dreamlike space where stories begin - that moment between thought and creation, where anything feels possible. My piece is titled “The Man Gave Him a Pair of Snowshoes,” inspired by the enchanting artwork of Kay Nielsen, which guided both the emotional tone and structure of the composition.

The track blends clarinet, saxophone, piano, and soft synth textures to evoke a sense of gentle wonder and perseverance - like walking through a snow-covered dreamscape, not knowing exactly where the path leads, but trusting the journey. I tried to capture both the weariness of distance and the quiet hope of what lies beyond the horizon.
